Tania Vlasova , Head of Marketing at Univest, presented at the XVII “Packaging Industry” conference with a talk titled “Univest’s Sustainable Development: Innovations and Practices in Paper Packaging”
During her presentation, Tetiana highlighted key aspects of the company’s transition to a circular economy, new environmental challenges, and the opportunities that innovations bring to the business.
The plastic problem and EU legislation:
The SUP Directive was introduced to limit the use of single-use plastics. Every European generates up to 190 kg of packaging waste annually, making this issue not just a challenge but also a chance for businesses to implement sustainable solutions.
Univest’s business ecosystem and sustainability principles:
The company offers solutions such as:
- Innovative products with a low environmental footprint, recyclable and compostable (UniCup™ cups, UniCarton™ cardboard, UniLids™ lids).
- Renewable energy: A solar power plant covering over 40% of the company’s energy needs on sunny days.
- Raw materials: Waste from one production process becomes a resource for another, promoting circular economy principles.
Solar power plant:
In just five months, Univest’s solar plant has saved 167 tons of coal, avoided 200 tons of CO2 emissions, and its impact is equivalent to planting 272 trees!
Market prospects:
By 2030, the EU forecasts the production of 39 million tons of paper products. Univest aims to be part of this sustainable future by providing high-quality packaging for the food industry, retail, and fast food sectors.
Univest not only responds to market challenges but also creates new opportunities for sustainable business growth. We produce packaging that ensures comfort, safety, and care for both people and the environment.
Let’s create the future together!
